According to BorgWarner, the HVH220 electric motor “can operate at a voltage of up to 800V and uses a 220mm outer diameter stator and BorgWarner’s patented high-voltage hairpin technology.” It can generate power of up to 300 kW.

The electric motor is to be installed in the purely electric X9 MPV, which Xpeng unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show. In addition, the HVH220 will probably be “used in XPeng’s next electric B-segment sedan,” which is scheduled to roll off the assembly line from the third quarter of 2024. The X9 is already available in China.

“We are very pleased that we can supply this leading OEM with our proven stators and rotors and thus advance the development of the Chinese electric vehicle industry,” said Dr. Stefan Demmerle, President and General Manager, BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems. “BorgWarner’s deep product expertise will benefit XPeng as it continues to develop its electric drives.”
